Inspired by youth, their behavioral patterns, subcultures, gadgets and slang, the collection transforms the idea of the digital epiphany into delicate details. The symbolic contrast between reality and virtuality is portrayed through the use of crystal and metal embellishment that decorates the coat.
In 2016, ElektroCouture approached Kanika Goyal to team up for a glowing collaboration. Kanika has deep roots in quality craftsmanship and refined tailoring, which embodies in the concept of provocative minimalism. Fascinated by the principle of paradox, the designer consistently transforms her contrasting ideals into garments that narrate eclectic yet powerful stories.
Within this collaborative work, ElektroCouture combined Kanika Goyal’s signature asymmetry with precise tailoring and innovative LED technology. Playing with the symmetric shapes and reflective crystals of the dress, the LEDs create an extra shine to the design.
The flexible LED technology is integrated within the layers of textiles – you can’t see and feel the technology, you should see the effect (it glows!). The LEDs are connected to a detachable and recharable high-quality powerbank – which makes is possible for the dress to get washed, flexible and comfortable to wear.
